‘Wai’ series explores critical importance of conservation

The latest episode of “Everything Starts with Wai” addresses pressing concerns Hawaii faces regarding our water supply, including the challenges that demand our attention to protect our precious resources. When water thrives, we thrive.

For example, on Oahu, the water we drink came from rainfall 25 years ago. It makes its way through the volcanic rocks and recharges and replenishes our aquifers. Therefore, water conservation is extremely important. Water conservation,  watershed protection, and specific actions community members can take to help conserve water — including xeriscaping — are discussed in the segment. 

“Everything Starts with Wai,” a year-long series on Hawaii New Now’s HI Now, debuted in May to highlight the importance of our water resources.
